The communications platform
we needed for our own businesses.
HOVA is a multi-channel communications platform for Ghanaian businesses. SMS, WhatsApp, voice, email, and AI agents — in one place, priced in cedis.
We’ve been on the customer side of the problem.
For years, businesses in Ghana have made do with communications tools that weren’t built for us. SMS providers that don’t accept cedis. WhatsApp setup processes designed for global enterprises with compliance teams. Voice platforms billed in dollars. Dashboards in languages and time zones that don’t match our own.
Most of these platforms work, technically. They’re also frustrating to use, expensive in real terms once you factor in FX, and missing the small things that make a tool feel local — invoices with your TIN, support that knows MTN, AirtelTigo and Vodafone are three different carriers, pricing pages that don’t make you convert dollars in your head.
We’ve seen the gap. We want us to catch up.
HOVA is what happens when someone who runs a Ghanaian business builds the communications tool they wished they had — and decides to share it with everyone else who’s been frustrated by the same things.
Abrefa Amoako Carl
I’m an engineer and a medical laboratory scientist. I’ve spent years working in Ghana’s health sector, where I’ve seen up close how broken our communication systems are. Lab personnel have to walk into the waiting room and call out names before patients can go in to see the doctor. Specialist clinic appointments get rescheduled without telling the patient — so they show up on the day and are told to come back another time. There’s no alert when a bill is due. The list goes on.
I also work in media — photography, videography, and graphic design. I run Unplugged Studios, a studio handling weddings, brand work, and visual production. Running an active business in Ghana means I’ve felt every gap in our communications stack — from chasing clients on WhatsApp to sending campaign updates to thousands of contacts to confirming payment with mobile money.
That mix — clinical, technical, creative, entrepreneurial — is what HOVA is built on. It’s why the platform takes pricing, compliance, healthcare workflows, and rough-and-ready Ghanaian business reality seriously, all at the same time.
One platform. Every channel your customers use.
HOVA brings the channels Ghanaian businesses actually use into one dashboard, with one bill, in cedis:
- SMSDirect connections to MTN, Vodafone, and AirtelTigo.
- WhatsAppBusiness messaging with templates and two-way conversations.
- VoiceOutbound calls, IVR flows, and call recording.
- EmailTransactional and campaign email with delivery tracking.
- AI agentsConversational AI on WhatsApp and SMS — answering routine questions, escalating to humans for the rest.
- SocialTikTok and Instagram DMs handled from the same inbox as everything else.
Underneath all of it: idempotency-keyed APIs, signed webhooks, audit trails for every send, AIT (artificially-inflated-traffic) defenses against fraud, and pricing that doesn’t change when the cedi moves against the dollar.
Early. Honest. Open for early customers.
HOVA is in the launch phase. The platform is built, the security audit is done, and we’re onboarding the first paying customers now. If you’re a Ghanaian business that needs better customer communications and doesn’t want to wait for a global vendor to figure out our market, we’d like to talk to you.
Early customers get direct access to the founder, faster feature turnaround, and pricing locked at launch rates. In return, we’d love your feedback on what works and what doesn’t.
